Janey & Bela



Bela Konstancja and Janey Miles are a writing duo focused on musical storytelling for TV, Film, Audio and Stage. They are met and began their collaboration at the Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program at NYU’s Tisch School of The Arts (Cycle 30/Class of '21). Bela and Janey are currently at work developing their Thesis Musical REAL PEOPLE THINGS for the stage and screen. 

REAL PEOPLE THINGS premiered at the Two River Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey as part of their summer "Plaza Players" series in July of 2021. Next up, catch REAL PEOPLE THINGS in concert at Feinstein's/54 Below on February 10th 2022!

JULY 15-18 2021

REAL PEOPLE THINGS played for three nights (we only got rained out once!) outdoors at the Two River Theater in Red Bank New Jersey as part of the summer Plaza Players Series. We presented an abridged version of the show featuring the insane talents of DeAnne Stewart, Jakeim Hart, Skyler Volpe and Mason McDowell. This incredibly talented cast not only brought our characters to life, they also played the instruments and were the band! It was such a speical experinces to get to hear this material live!

Bela is a self taught musician who has honed her skills in Nashville’s song writing rooms. Janey studied Film and TV Production at the USC School of Cinematic Arts and Musical Improvisation at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade, combining those experiences to develop her own lyrical storytelling style.

Janey & Bela are musical storytellers for Stage and Screen. After meeting at the Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2019, Janey & Bela began collaborating on character-driven, pop influenced musical projects. Their original pop musical REAL PEOPLE THINGS had a concert presentation at the Two River Theater as part of their Plaza Players Summer series in July of 2021, and went on to have a sold out, one night only concert at 54 Below in February 2022. Up next, Janey & Bela will be featured in American Popular Song Society’s 17th ANNUAL SONGWRITER SHOWCASE at Don’t Tell Mama, as well as returning to 54 Below in October 2022 to share a sneak peak at their new project HOOK ME.

Bela Konstancja

Bela Konstancja Kawalec is a Polish-American writer, composer and performer currently living in Brooklyn, NY. Bela is a self taught musician who has honed her skills in Nashville’s song writing rooms and frequently spent her Sunday nights playing at The Bluebird Cafe. In 2019 Bela relocated to New York City for grad school, and fell in love with the city. In 2020 Bela was a semifinalist along with her collaborator Carrie Caffrey in the NAMT 15 minute musical contest. In 2021 she was a part of Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Village Songs song cycle, as well as Broadway’s Future Songbook at Lincoln Center. Bela and her musical writing partner Janey Feingold graduated from Tisch’s Graduate Musical Theater writing program with their thesis musical REAL PEOPLE THINGS which was presented by the Two River Theater in Redbank, NJ for their Summer Plaza Player Series in July of 2021. In October of 2021 Bela and Janey received a grant from NYFA and presented an intimate cabaret of their work at Rockwood Music Hall. Bela is currently self-producing a full length album and since music venues have reopened has jumped into NYC’s thriving live-music scene.


Janey Miles

Janey Feingold  is a writer, director and lyricist who created the Viral musical teen series CHICKEN GIRLS for the BRAT Youtube Network. CHICKEN GIRLS, which reached over 100 Million views in the first season, was nominated for 2018 and 2019 STREAMY AWARDS and is currently in its 9th season. Janey co-produced and directed the digital song cycle Creativity Is Not Canceled featuring eight new songs written entirely in quarantine. In 2020 Janey collaborated with composer William Karras on an original song “STRANGE” which was featured in the “ON HOPE” global song cycle produced by The Other Palace Theatre in Victoria, London. Janey and Bela are currently developing their thesis musical REAL PEOPLE THINGS for audio, stage and film formats. Janey holds a BA from The USC School of Cinematic Arts and an MFA from the Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program at NYU’s Tisch School of The Arts.
